Lee Luvisi

Biography
Lee Luvisi

Lee Luvisi has developed over the past four decades an enviable career as soloist and chamber musician, and is today one of the most highly respected artists on the American musical scene. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. Luvisi was a student of Rudolf Serkin and Mieczyslaw Horszowski at Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music. Upon his graduation he became the youngest faculty member in the history of that institution. In 1963, Mr. Luvisi assumed his present position as Artist in residence at the University of Louisville School of Music where he is also Professor of Piano.

Lee Luvisi has performed with nearly every important orchestra in North America as well as in Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Europe under such distinguished conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Eugene Ormandy, William Steinberg, Neville Marriner and Robert Shaw.

Mr. Luvisi collaborates regularly with many of the world's foremost musicians and ensembles. Included among these are the Julliard, Guarneri, Pinchas Zuckerman, Alexander Schneider, Walter Trampler, Leonard Rose, Zara Nelsova, Richard Stoltzman, Jan DeGaetani and Dawn Upshaw, to name a few.

Mr. Luvisi has participated in the Marlboro, Aspen, Casals, Santa Fe, Chamber Music Northwest and Tanglewood summer festivals, and can be heard on the Delos, Bridge and Louisville Orchestra First Edition recording labels. He is represented by Michal Schmidt Artists International, Inc.
