Michael Sachs

Michael Sachs

Michael Sachs was appointed principal trumpet of the Cleveland Orchestra in 1988. Since that time, he has appeared as soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra on numerous occasions, with which he also tours and records extensively. His solo appearances with the orchestra include Handel’s "Let the Bright Seraphim" (with soprano Kathleen Battle), Stravinsky’s "L’Histoire du Soldat" (recorded for Deutsche Gramophone with Pierre Boulez), and Ives’ Unanswered Question (recorded for London/Decca with Christoph von Dohnányi). Most recently, he received rave reviews for his world premiere performances of John Williams’ Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, commissioned for him by the Cleveland Orchestra.

Mr. Sachs has performed as soloist with such organizations as the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Houston Symphony, the Colorado Philharmonic, and has appeared on CBS This Morning, and the Kennedy Center Honors.
