Roberta Piket

Biography
After graduating from the New England Conservatory of Music, composer/pianist Roberta Piket returned to her native New York and worked with an array of Jazz luminaries, including Benny Golson, Ted Curson and Lionel Hampton. But these days her primary focus is her own trio. Performing at such venues as the Museum of Modern Art, the Texaco-New York Jazz Festival and the Kennedy Center, Ms. Piket’s trio recently completed a month-long tour of Japan, and their latest CD, 'Live at the Blue Note,' was named one of 1999’s five best by 'JazzTimes' Magazine.

Ms. Piket placed second in the 1993 International Thelonious Monk-BMI Composers’ Competition and has been a featured guest on Marian McPartland’s 'Piano Jazz' on NPR. In addition to performing, Ms. Piket is an Artist-in-Residence for the Flushing Council on the Arts and has been a clinician in many schools in the U.S., Europe and Japan, including Duke University and Rutgers.
